The outside world demands of Israel, and we ask ourselves: What is the end game for Gaza?
Pardon us for taking a month to answer. We have had to pick up our 1400+ dead and bury them. We are still identifying body parts. We had to make war to destroy Hamas, to release hostages.
But as the IDF uncovers the strongholds and hiding places of the enemy, crushing the terrorists, its scythe and bulldozers are creating a new reality with possibilities inconceivable a month ago.
When the war is won, Hamas will be destroyed. The IDF will control Gaza overwhelmingly.
That result leaves unanswered the question of the morning after, about what will become of the conquered territory. The answer must address security, historical, and moral considerations.
All three of these dimensions lead to an inescapable solution: the resurrection of Gush Katif. The 2005 disengagement was, exactly as predicted by its victims and opponents, a catastrophe.
Security first. There now can be no doubt that Israel was far more secure before the destruction of the communities of Gush Katif. Yes, there were occasional terror attacks on the residents and the security forces protecting them. There were losses and costs. But over 38 years, the toll did not come anywhere close to the terrible and tragic losses of October 7, 2023.
We must correct that colossal blunder but also the conception that led to the Disengagement, uprooting 17 beautiful and successful communities of Gush Katif with their 10,000 residents.
Israel did not enter the war to reconquer Gaza. But that will be the inevitable result. Across the political spectrum, there is broad recognition of the need to occupy and control that territory.
Even left-wing politicians now say the post-war security arrangements must allow the IDF to operate freely against terror threats, like Area B of Judea and Samaria, the “West Bank.”
They admit that the IDF must stay there, vigilant and proactive, not for months but for years.
The people of Israel must answer: forever and not a day too soon.
Israel must retain, permanently, control of its borders to prevent the importation of weapons and people to attack us. The IDF must be free to act, with lethal force, when and where needed.
Which begs the question: if we have Area B, doesn’t it make sense to rebuild and repopulate the communities that kept us safer, to reestablish Area C in what was Gush Katif?
The answer must be a resounding YES. That is our sacred obligation to the victims of Black Sabbath and the refugees of 2005. That is not only good for our security. That is our moral right.
That is the least that we can do for the 260 victims of the Supernova music festival. That is our debt to the victims and residents of Be’eri, Kfar Aza, Netiv Ha’asera, Sderot and Ofakim.
Let us go forth and call this new area of Israeli settlement, Nova Katif. The name, New Harvest, signifies renewal of the communities dismantled in 2005, in blessed memory of innocents murdered at the music festival of that name, the kibbutzim, and the rest of southern Israel.
Redemption for the hostages torn from their families and held by the two-legged torturing beast. In hope that the bitter fruit of that black day will yet provide the seeds of bountiful Katif. Today Israelis of all stripes are being called on to help farmers in a National Harvest. Katif leumi.
Nova Katif will be our National Harvest.
Resettlement of the land, rebuilding of the ruined communities, re-establishment of Jewish life – this is the Israeli response, the Zionist answer, the blow back to any aggressor who dares to massacre us, and who threatens to do it again and again. The middle finger to those who raped.
Palestinian supporters need to learn: Murder Us and You Won’t Just Lose Lives. You’ll Lose Land.
Israeli families who lost a loved one, who lost a home, foreigners and supporters here and the world, especially the scores of Thai workers who shared our fate – should be entitled to build and be rebuilt there, on our land, on the land where our blood was spilled so liberally.
This is the essence of Zionism. This is the only possible Israeli answer to the Black Sabbath.
The old ways failed. Israel’s leaders and intelligence failed. Oslo and Disengagement failed.
The time has come for a constructive, assertive, Israeli will to not just survive but thrive. Not just “settlers” – all Israelis. We are all settlers now.
Herzl, founder of the Jewish State, famously said: if you will it, it’s no legend. After Israel died and was reborn after October 7, the darkness will give way to light. The legend must come true.
Nova Katif is the shining light at the end of the tunnel, the redemption of the greatest loss to befall our nation since the Holocaust, and the only way to prevent another Holocaust.
Nova Katif is the powerful answer to our enemies. You tried to kill us. You failed. Let’s build.
Nova Katif will be the practical solution for reviving the lives of the refugees and providing a home for the hundreds of thousands we can expect to flee from Europe and yes, the Americas.
The idea of Nova Katif will spark a Supernova in Israel, birth of a rising star the world will watch and witness with amazed eyes. Redemption for the massacres, abductions and humiliations.
Attracting lovers of Israel to dance and sing. To rebuild, to replant and to harvest.
We’ve had our time to die. Now it’s time to be reborn.
This re-engaged territory must be integrated immediately as part of Israel, just as reunited Jerusalem was declared Israel’s capital weeks after the Six Day War. Let the renovation begin.
Nova Katif is our answer to those hating mobs calling for Palestine from the River to the Sea, which means the elimination of Israel and the extermination of Israel.
We answer: From Wadi Gaza to the border, this is Israel’s new world order. Viva, Viva Nova Katif!
