Hamas Returns Body of Gazan, Not Hostage Shiri Bibas

Israel condemns Hamas for a severe ceasefire violation after receiving an unidentified Palestinian woman’s remains instead of hostage Shiri Bibas, escalating tensions and delaying hostage negotiations.

In a disturbing development that further deepens tensions, Israel has confirmed that the body handed over by Hamas, claimed to be that of hostage Shiri Bibas, is in fact the remains of an unidentified Palestinian woman from Gaza. This revelation has sparked outrage, with Israeli officials accusing Hamas of gross deception and a flagrant violation of ceasefire agreements.

The return of the wrong body comes amid ongoing negotiations for the release of hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7 massacre. Israel had been expecting the remains of Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, who were abducted along with their father, Yarden. While the remains of the two children were positively identified, forensic examination confirmed that the body thought to be Shiri Bibas was not hers.

Israeli authorities have condemned the incident as a serious breach of trust. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Hamas’s actions as “a heinous act of cruelty” and vowed that Israel would hold the terror group accountable. Military officials emphasized that Hamas’s failure to return Bibas’s remains underscores the group’s continued use of hostages as political leverage.

The misidentification has sent shockwaves through Israeli society, particularly within the Bibas family, who had been bracing for closure but are now left in continued uncertainty. Israeli officials have called Hamas’s actions “calculated and cynical,” accusing the terror group of exploiting the grief of families.

Hamas, for its part, has attempted to deflect blame, claiming that the mix-up was unintentional. In a statement, the group suggested that Bibas’s remains might have been misplaced due to the chaos resulting from Israeli airstrikes. A Hamas spokesperson stated that “due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and bombardments, it has been difficult to track and recover certain individuals.” However, Israeli officials have dismissed this explanation, asserting that Hamas deliberately misled negotiators and withheld information about Bibas’s true fate.

Israel Gnashes Its Teeth But Holds Fire—For Now

Despite mounting pressure from within the government and public to retaliate harshly, Israel is exercising restraint—at least for now. Military and intelligence officials have made it clear that any significant escalation could jeopardize the planned release of at least six additional hostages, whose fate remains uncertain. For the families awaiting their return, Israel’s patience is agonizing but calculated.

Behind closed doors, officials are said to be seething, aware that Hamas is testing their resolve. A senior security source indicated that while there is intense frustration, Israel will avoid rash action until the next phase of the hostage releases is secured. However, many within the Israeli leadership believe Hamas’s continued provocations are pushing the country toward an inevitable reckoning.

U.S. Officials Condemn Hamas’s Actions

The misidentification incident has drawn sharp criticism from international allies, particularly the United States. A senior U.S. official described Hamas’s actions as “deeply troubling” and called on the group to “act in good faith” in the hostage negotiations. American envoy Adam Boehler called the misidentification “horrific” and a “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement.

Washington has reiterated its position that Hamas cannot be trusted to honor its commitments, with U.S. officials warning that further violations could have severe consequences. The White House has been in direct contact with Israeli leaders, expressing support for Israel’s handling of the situation while emphasizing the urgency of securing the safe return of all remaining hostages.

The fate of the remaining hostages and the stability of the ceasefire hang in the balance. Both sides face pressure to adhere to agreements and prevent further escalation in a region fraught with tension and uncertainty. The restraint Israel has shown so far is unlikely to last indefinitely, maybe not even hours after the six return, in light of continued provocations and vile violations by Hamas.

The fact they butchered, tortured and murdered lovely Shiri and her beautiful babes should be enough to send your armies and bombs on Hamas and those Gazans that took part in Oct 7 slaughter and do not stop until you have bombed their tunnels and ploughed up Gaza as the Bible says. Let real shepherds of Israel roam the land and bring peace to Israel. There is no peace in Islam except when they are all in hell.
