President warns patience with Hamas is wearing thin after release of frail Israeli captives, and the worse is yet to come.
Aboard Air Force One en route to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, President Donald Trump expressed profound shock at the condition of three Israeli hostages recently freed by Hamas. “They look like Holocaust survivors. They were in horrible condition. They were emaciated,” Trump remarked to reporters. He added, “I don’t know how much longer we can take that… at some point we’re going to lose our patience.”
The president’s comments come amid ongoing negotiations for the release of remaining hostages. Trump emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “They have been treated brutally, horribly… mentally they were treated so badly. Who could take that?” He reiterated the possibility of diminishing U.S. patience, saying, “You know, at some point, we’re gonna lose our patience.”
In a related development, Trump has proposed that the United States “take over” Gaza, suggesting that Palestinians be relocated to neighboring countries and the area be transformed into a “Riviera of the Middle East.” This proposal has been met with mixed reactions internationally.
The release of the emaciated hostages has intensified discussions on the U.S. role in the Israel-Hamas conflict, with the administration signaling a potential shift in its approach if the situation does not improve.
