Terror group vindicates Bibi, says Israeli proposal contains no guarantees war will not resume after first phase
According to the Saudi channel Al-Sharq, Hamas leadership has rejected the Israeli outline for a ceasefire-prisoner release deal. The source said that the terror group concluded that the document differed significantly from Joe
Biden’s misrepresentation of its in an address last Friday, to which Hamas had responded positively.
The report states that, in a memo circulated among Palestinian terrorist organizations, Hamas reported: “After examining the Israeli document, it became clear that the document does not lay the proper foundations for the required agreement, as it does not include a permanent ceasefire, but rather a temporary one, and it does not tightly link the three stages. On the contrary, the document undermined the bridges between one stage and the next, in order to disrupt the unity of the agreement across all its stages. It confines the agreement to a single stage in which hostilities are temporarily halted, and forces remain in the Gaza Strip areas. In return, Israel achieves part of the prisoners it is interested in, and then resumes its war against our people.”
Meanwhile, Hamas sources told the Saudi newspaper that the terror group is demanding, presumably from the US, “clear guarantees that do not bear interpretations or explanations.” The sources added, “Israel is manipulating. It wants a temporary lull and then to resume the war. They are using vague tactics that can be interpreted.” Israel’s war cabinet has demanded guarantees from the US that fighting can resume after the first phase to topple Hamas.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration keeps trying to flog the dead horse, saying that even apparent Hamas rejection is not the last word and that the deal presented is in the interests of all in the region. Israel has said that it will make no more concessions.
