2 dead, 4 wounded near Gadera in southern Israel. Gunman neutralized
The assailant, reportedly from East Jerusalem’s Shuafat refugee camp, executed the attack by getting out of a car and opening fire on individuals at a bus stop with a handgun. An armed civilian fatally shot the terrorist, preventing further casualties.
The aftermath saw a significant deployment of police forces to secure the area and conduct thorough searches, under the presumption that the attacker acted alone. Emergency medical services, provided by Magen David Adom (MDA), attended to six victims at the scene, including a man in his 20s who was critically wounded and later pronounced dead at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot. Three others were treated for serious injuries, with one subsequently succumbing to their wounds at the same hospital. Two additional individuals, including a 65-year-old woman, were treated for moderate injuries.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the incident with a statement portraying the attack as part of the overall war on Israel. “The murderers want to kill us all,” and extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. He emphasized the persistent threat posed by terrorists, not only from Gaza but also from within Israel, underscoring the nation’s resolve to combat terrorism on all fronts. Netanyahu’s commitment was clear: “We will continue to fight until complete victory with all our strength, on every front, everywhere, until we restore security and peace to all citizens of Israel.”
