At last the truth comes out. Only a tiny minority of the families of hostages still in Gaza, just twenty families out of more than a hundred, seize the headlines, amplified by Israel’s leftist media, with the absurd demand that all will be well if only Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu goes away.
Never mind that the fall of his government would lead to six months of chaos that would destroy national unity and set back all efforts to win the war and return the hostages.
Never mind that most families of hostages are against turning the issue into a political football.
Never mind that most hostages’ families oppose their grandstanding and childish behavior.
Never mind that most of the families of hundreds of soldiers who have paid the ultimate prices and those civilians murdered and raped on October 7 fiercely disagree.
No, it’s enough that 15% of the families of hostages set first and block traffic to grab the headlines and gaslight, with the help of the media, the Israeli public and the world.
Every poll shows that the overwhelming majority of Israelis want to topple Hamas and bring the terrorists to their knees, knowing only that will open the door to free the hostages.
But no, they cry like babies to release for a ceasefire NOW and release of the hostages NOW even though Hamas has made it crystal clear that Israel must stop fighting and withdraw unilaterally from the Gaza Strip before they will consider releasing any hostages.
That’s not going to happen. It would be insane for it to happen.
Every week, leftists march in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and other cities. A few thousand. An unrepresentative fraction of the Israeli public. They light bonfires on the road. They block roads and highways. They disrupt the life of the country. And the left-leaning media gives them the attention they crave. What they failed to achieve in their weekly protests in 2023, they want to try again. When they tried to incite reserve soldiers, they made progress. They found people in high places who wanted Bibi to be the fall guy. Then came October 7.
Enough. Sure if it was your kid, or your dad, you’d do everything in your power to return your loved ones. Israelis have empathy for their suffering. But that doesn’t justify what they do.
True leaders can’t be swayed by emotion. They need to think practically. And the practical truth is that the Netanyahu government has been acting responsibly and methodically to win the war, backed by the amazing heroism of the IDF. And to explore every avenue to release the hostages.
The leftists will never blame Hamas. Because that would reveal the truth that Hamas is unwilling to make any deal except Israeli defeat. It’s easier to blame Bibi. A brother of a hostage calls to release hostages “by force” if necessary. As if the IDF isn’t trying to do exactly that.
Another freed hostage, Raz Ben-Ami, stands on stage and calls for a deal: “Mr. Prime Minister, on behalf of the abductees, in the name of the people of Israel, give the negotiators in Qatar the order: We will not return without a deal.”
The trouble with the logic of the leftist crybabies is that it takes two sides to make a deal. And the other side is strengthened by the disloyalty and the stupidity of the Israeli left.
Shira Albag, mother of hostage Liri, blams only Bibi for preventing a deal: “The people of Israel won’t forget or forgive anyone who prevents a deal that would bring them back to us. After 176 days, 4,224 hours, the excuses have run out,” she continues.
As if it is Netanyahu preventing a deal. As if it is not the stupid leftist who advance excuses for Hamas
Protesters call out at the protest: “We will not stop until they’re all home,” and “Enough killing, enough despair, the hostages are the most important thing.”
Shirel Hogeg, whose family survived the October 7 massacre in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, riles up the crowd outside the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. “Go, go, go already!” yells Hogeg, referring to Netanyahu. “We’ve been yelling for 15 years already,” Hogeg yells about Netanyahu. “You’re the leader, you’re guilty. You’re not worthy of this country.”
Yes, their opposition to Netanyahu ispolitical. They don’t accept the will of the Israeli electorate. They don’t want the IDF to win. They want to accept the dictates of Hamas, which would mean that Israel would lose the war. Their actions embolden Israel’s enemies and delay the military victory that alone can return the hostages home.
Freed hostage Aviva Siegel called on Prime Minister Netanyahu and other members of the government to stop treating hostage negotiations “as if they are a children’s game.”
“You cannot bring back the delegation from Qatar without a deal,” she demanded onstage, reading from her smartphone. “Do you hear me, Bibi? I don’t know if my husband is alive. Stop talking about victory, stop talking about military pressure. Nothing will work. Nothing has worked until now. They’re dying there every day,” she continues.
She ignores somehow that it is the US and the UN, emboldened by Israeli leftists, who are holding Israel back from finishing the war. “I feel like someone who wanders the world empty inside, I am broken on the inside. I’m asking you all, how am I supposed to live like this?” she says to the crowd.
The rally is taking place only a couple hours after a group of families under the banner of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum denounced Netanyahu’s conduct toward negotiations as “criminal.” She urged his ouster.
The Israeli leftists are the ones acting stupidly, criminally, and counter-productively. The patience of sane Israelis, and their democratically elected government, is wearing thin.
Excellent article. The Israeli leftist are the ones acting stupidly, criminally and counter productively! So glad to hear you speaking out against their evil. God bless you and God bless Israel that are fighting against a deadly enemy of Hamas/ISIS and the Nations who seek their destruction. We have been talking and praying and reading the scriptures of Korahs Dathan and some of the Congregation of Israel who wretchedly stood against Moses and Aaron whom the Lord had chosen to lead Israel out of Egypts slavery. It is hard to say this because we have supported and helped Israel as long as God enabled us able since first we committed our souls and lives unto the Lord and His beloved Yeshua. We still cry and pray out for Israel until Yeshua return to deliver her out of the hands of her enemies and we are as afraid for these leftist sinners as for those Nations who work with them for Israels destruction. For these are serious charges against Netanyahu and his government voted in by the people and by the God of Israel we serve. This is a terrible evil sent to divide Gods Chosen people. Numbers 16 is a fearful but needed record of the evil of rebellion against God and His leaders. We pray they stop and repent before a more terrible thing happen than October 7 because these leftist refuse to support the God of Israel and their own country and people.
Mal 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
We are some of these gentiles crying out for Israels protection and help from God, against her enemies.
These leftists are irrational. They don’t make any worthwhile suggestions, don’t even seem to follow the news of what Hamas does and says. They seem to want Israel to surrender to get back their famly members, and put the millions of other Israelis at risk. That is not rational nor is it what any leaders would do. Appeasement has failed over and over again. We did a similar move when we evacuated all the Jews out of Gaza in 2005. It made matters worse. The only way is the way Netanyahu keeps repeating, because terrorists only respect strength, not weakness.
I am a Progressive Liberal who supports Israel! Israel has enjoyed bipartisan support since the founding of the state, when Harry Truman recognised the state of Israel. This is extremely important for Israel’s survival. If you are using Israel as a wedge issue in partisan politics, you are hurting Israel. I’ve been at APAC conventions where from the podium they speak of the importance of not using Israel as a wedge issue, because when you do, you are putting your party in front of the importance of supporting Israel.
