Six Palestinians killed, 35 wounded in Samaria terror hot spot as IDF and Shin Bet shift focus during Gaza lull

Israeli military forces today launched a significant operation in the Samarian city of Jenin, targeting Palestinian terrorists. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, six Palestinians were killed and 35 others injured during the clashes. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described the mission as a “significant and broad military operation” focused on dismantling militant infrastructure in Jenin, a city that has increasingly become a flashpoint for armed resistance.

Israeli intelligence sources have long pointed to an Iranian connection in fueling violence in Judea and Samaria, particularly in Jenin. Tehran is accused of providing financial and logistical support to Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), both of which have a strong foothold in the city. The operation on January 21 is seen as part of Israel’s broader strategy to curb Iran’s influence in the region, particularly as its proxy groups seek to create a multi-front conflict against Israel.

According to Israeli officials, intercepted communications and captured weapons indicate direct Iranian involvement in recent escalations. Jenin has reportedly become a transit point for smuggling Iranian-manufactured weapons into the West Bank. These weapons have been used in attacks on Israeli civilians and military personnel, contributing to the decision to escalate operations in the area.

Furthermore, Iran’s efforts to radicalize and militarize Palestinian youth have increased following the Gaza conflict. Israeli security analysts view this as part of Iran’s larger regional strategy to distract Israel from its ongoing operations against Tehran’s nuclear and military assets.
