Israeli airstrikes target Houthi military infrastructure in Yemen following missile attacks on Israeli territory, escalating regional tensions.
On December 26, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen. This military action was in direct response to recent missile attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels targeting Israeli cities.
The IDF’s operation involved two waves of airstrikes, deploying 14 fighter jets to target strategic infrastructure utilized by the Houthis. The first wave focused on the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and the Ras Isa oil terminal on the Red Sea, which are critical for the Houthis’ logistical and military operations. The second wave targeted energy infrastructure in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, including power stations and fuel storage facilities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the necessity of the strikes, declaring, “After Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Assad regime in Syria, the Houthis are almost the last remaining arm of Iran’s axis of evil. They are learning and they will learn the hard way that whoever harms Israel pays a very heavy price for it.”
The Houthi-controlled satellite channel al-Masirah reported that the airstrikes resulted in at least nine fatalities, with seven individuals killed at the port of Salif and two at the Ras Isa oil terminal. Additionally, the strikes on energy facilities in Sana’a led to significant power outages, exacerbating the city’s existing electricity crisis. Mohammed al-Basha, a Yemen analyst, noted, “Approximately one quarter of Sana’a — particularly shops, stores, and commercial facilities — will face immediate and severe disruptions.”
In response to the Israeli airstrikes, a senior Houthi official pledged to continue attacks on Israel until the conflict in Gaza concludes, stating, “We will persist in our operations against the Zionist enemy until the aggression against our Palestinian brothers ceases.”
The international community has expressed concern over the escalating hostilities. The United Nations has called for restraint from all parties, emphasizing the need to avoid actions that could further destabilize the region and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
The U N is exacerbating this conflict and the U.S should make it known. We have been acquiescing to the one sided
organization for the last 40 years and it is time end our relationship. 82% of all condemnations have been against
Israel and their employees have been involved in the October 7 massacre. There delegates have committed crimes
in New York and have never been prosecuted. Their members have committed crimes in other nations with impunity.
Why does the U.S. pay for those that don’t and provide sanctuary for them?
GET THE U.S.A. OUT OF THE U.N.!!!!!
Amen to that!!!
