The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday announced it had eliminated a Hezbollah operative responsible for rebuilding the Iranian-backed terrorist organization’s military capabilities in Southern Lebanon.

Hussein Ali Tohmeh was killed in an Israeli Air Force strike on Oct. 14, the IDF said, adding that the terrorist was responsible for logistical support in the Qana sector, located some 7 miles from the border.

The slain terror operative “worked to transfer combat equipment in order to restore the military capabilities of the Hezbollah terror organization in the area,” according to the IDF statement.

Tohmeh’s attempts to rebuild Hezbollah infrastructure constituted a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon, the military said, adding: “The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel.”

On Nov. 26, 2024, the governments of Israel and Lebanon signed a truce that was aimed at ending more than a year of fighting between the IDF and Hezbollah. The Iranian-backed terrorists began attacking the Jewish state in support of Hamas in the aftermath of its Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.

Since the truce, the IDF has conducted frequent raids to stop Hezbollah from rebuilding infrastructure in Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire.

On Sunday, the IDF killed Hezbollah terrorist Ali Hussein Al-Mousawi in Lebanon’s Beqaa region. According to the IDF, he served as an arms dealer and smuggler for the terror group, coordinating the purchase and transfer of weapons from Syria to Lebanon. He was also involved in efforts to reestablish and bolster Hezbollah’s military capabilities.

Also on Sunday, the IDF conducted a separate precision strike in the southern Lebanese area of Naqoura, targeting terrorist operative Abd Mahmoud Al-Sayed.

Al-Sayed acted as Hezbollah’s representative in the Al-Bayada area, facilitating communication between the group and local residents on financial and military matters, the IDF said. He was likewise involved in Hezbollah’s efforts to rebuild its military infrastructure in the town.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem told Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV, which is linked to the terror group, on Sunday that it had a “legitimate right” to possess weapons, despite the ceasefire deal requiring it to demilitarize.

Qassem has repeatedly rejected demands to disarm, warning in July that the group was “rebuilding, recovering and ready now” to take on Israel.
