The Israel Defense Forces on Friday rescued an Israeli civilian who reported being abducted in Jericho, in the Jordan Valley, the military said.

According to Channel 12 News, the woman, a new immigrant, met an acquaintance and was driven to an apartment in Jericho, where she says a group of Palestinian men attempted to assault her before she escaped.

She was able to contact Israeli authorities, prompting the IDF to dispatch forces to the area to conduct searches.

Simultaneously, the Civil Administration—a branch of the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit—coordinated with Palestinian Authority forces to locate her.

Once contact was made, IDF soldiers secured the woman and transferred her into custody.

The civilian was unharmed.

“We emphasize that the entry of Israeli civilians into Area A is dangerous and prohibited by law,” the IDF said.

Area A refers to regions in Judea and Samaria under full Palestinian Authority security and civilian control, according to the Oslo Accords.
