Hospital Becomes Focus of IDF Precision Operation with Intelligence Pointing to Presence of Kidnapped Israeli Civilians

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched what it describes as a “precise and limited” operation at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, citing “credible intelligence” that Hamas used the facility to hold hostages, including potentially hiding the bodies of those deceased. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, IDF Spokesman, emphasized the operation’s aim to dismantle Hamas’s capabilities and recover hostages, asserting that over 85% of Gaza’s major medical facilities have been exploited by Hamas for terrorist activities.

The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza reported a “massive incursion” by Israeli forces at the hospital, alleging heavy shooting that resulted in numerous injuries among displaced persons taking refuge there. According to ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra, the military’s actions forced the relocation of patients to less equipped facilities. The ministry further claimed that Israeli fire struck at least seven patients, resulting in one death and several injuries, a statement the IDF has yet to comment on.

The IDF’s strategy involved not only military operations but also efforts to mitigate harm to civilians and ensure the hospital’s continued operation. Hagari detailed measures such as the establishment of a humanitarian corridor, urging Gazans to relocate from areas of conflict, and the provision of medical supplies and fuel to sustain hospital functions. Special forces trained for such sensitive missions spearheaded the incursion, with the IDF maintaining communication with hospital staff to minimize disruptions to patient care.

The IDF confirmed the detention of several suspects within the hospital premises, focusing on individuals linked to the October 7 massacre and ongoing terror activities by Hamas. The military’s approach reflects a broader strategy to neutralize Hamas’s operational capabilities while attempting to shield non-combatants from the conflict’s repercussions.
