The death toll on the Israeli side has surpassed 1,200. The IDF intensified its attacks in response, targeting over 150 sites in Gaza, among which was reportedly the residence of the father of a prominent Hamas commander.
In the past 24 hours, Israeli forces have neutralized 18 gunmen attempting to infiltrate the country. IDF spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, provided an update, stating, “These are the same terrorists who did not flee back to Gaza. They are in hiding places, near the border. There are tens of thousands of [IDF] fighters in the area surrounding Gaza.”
The Health Ministry reported that there are 3,007 injured individuals, with 28 in critical condition, 345 in serious condition, and approximately 500 still in the hospital. The country continues to mourn, holding funerals for both soldiers and civilians, particularly after the mass infiltration and tragedy on Saturday.
The IDF disclosed that its Air Force targeted over 70 Hamas strongholds in the Gaza City district of at-Tuffah and a facility used by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In addition, the homes of Mohammad Deif, a high-ranking Hamas military figure, and Hamas’s military wing spokesperson were struck. As a result of these airstrikes, several family members of Deif perished.
Hamas militants have launched over 5,000 rockets at Israel since Saturday, with a significant number targeting the city of Sderot. The IDF reported its forces successfully neutralized many threats, including a diver from Hamas attempting a sea infiltration and artillery fire targeting Hamas-used docks in Khan Younis and Gaza City.
US President Joe Biden, in a powerful and heartfelt speech, expressed his solidarity with Israel, highlighting the horrendous acts perpetrated by Hamas, “Parents butchered, using their bodies to try to protect their children; entire families slain; young people massacred… women raped, assaulted, paraded as trophies,” Biden conveyed.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized Israel’s shift to a more aggressive stance against Hamas, remarking, “You will have the ability to change the reality here… Hamas wanted a change in Gaza; it will change 180 degrees from what it thought.”
In the backdrop of these events, humanitarian organizations are urgently advocating for safe passages to deliver essential aid to Gaza, especially with hospitals running critically low on supplies.
Gaza’s Health Ministry, under Hamas administration, cites that 950 Palestinian individuals have perished due to the retaliatory airstrikes by Israel. Jerusalem insists its targets are solely terrorist infrastructures and areas harboring or aiding Hamas operations.
