PM praises targeted response to Iran’s aggression, avoids nuclear policy discussion. “The jury’s still out.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed in a Wall Street Journal interview that Iran was left “dumbfounded” following Israel’s extensive retaliatory strikes in late October. The operation targeted Iran’s critical air defense systems and ballistic missile infrastructure, with the aim of crippling its military capabilities for years.
“They now have to calculate how much ammo they have,” Netanyahu remarked, adding that rebuilding Iran’s ballistic missile program could take years. He warned, “Assuming we don’t hit it again,” underscoring Israel’s readiness for further action if necessary.
October Strikes and Iranian Missile Retaliation
The Israeli strikes came weeks after Iran launched over 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, claiming retaliation for the alleged assassinations of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. While Israel has not officially taken responsibility for Haniyeh’s death in Tehran, it has been widely attributed to Mossad operations.
Israel’s advanced air defense systems intercepted the majority of the missiles, limiting damage to airbases and ensuring continued IDF operational capacity. The October 26 counterstrike focused on missile factories, storage sites, launchers, and a research facility suspected of supporting nuclear weapons development.
Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions: A Delicate Topic
When asked about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and a possible Israeli preemptive strike, Netanyahu refrained from specifics. “I’m not going to talk about that,” he said. He acknowledged the ongoing debate surrounding Iran’s uranium enrichment activities, stating, “The jury’s out… and I don’t exclude myself.”
Netanyahu praised the precision and impact of the October operation, highlighting its message to Iran and its proxies. He further emphasized Israel’s determination to prevent Tehran’s regional ambitions from threatening national security.
Well done!
Wonderful! Never underestimate Israel ‼️😀
