Trump Demands Iran’s Surrender

As Israel and Iran trade blows for a fifth day, U.S. President Donald Trump leaves the G7 early and returns to Washington for urgent consultations on the Iran-Israel war. He rejects talks and insists Tehran accept unconditional surrender to end the escalating conflict.

The conflict between Israel and Iran intensified on Tuesday as President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s complete surrender as the only acceptable outcome. On the fifth day of open hostilities, Trump firmly aligned Washington with Israel’s military campaign, ruling out negotiations and warning that the confrontation will only end when Tehran capitulates.

Trump told Fox News: “I have no desire to negotiate with Iran. I expect nothing less than a complete surrender.” That ultimatum signaled that any diplomacy would occur strictly on Washington’s terms. The president’s stance underscores a hardline, pro-Israel approach as violence grips the region.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump added: “If they want to talk, they know how to contact me. They should have accepted the deal that was already on the table — it would have saved a lot of lives.” He was alluding to previous negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, which he accuses Tehran of dragging out.

He thundered on Monday, “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!” The president even urged that “everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran,” a dramatic warning intended to convey the severity of Israel’s ongoing strikes on Iranian targets.

According to Israeli media, the White House is preparing a final “last-chance” offer to Tehran. The proposal would demand Iran halt its aggression and nuclear activities in exchange for a possible reprieve, but it carries an implicit threat: if Iran refuses, the United States is poised to support even more forceful military action. Washington has signaled it is ready to back Israel’s campaign to whatever extent necessary should Iran remain defiant.

Israel’s military offensive began on June 13 with a surprise wave of airstrikes across Iran. Israeli officials say the operation, code-named “Rising Lion,” was designed to eliminate Iran’s ability to build nuclear weapons and neutralize what they call an existential threat. The initial strikes were devastating: much of Iran’s top military command and several leading nuclear scientists were killed in one night. Israel claims to have gained control of Iran’s airspace following the onslaught, and leaders in Jerusalem indicate they will escalate the campaign in the coming days. By decapitating Iran’s military leadership early, Israel aimed to cripple Tehran’s capacity to retaliate.

Iran has answered with its own attacks, firing volleys of missiles and launching swarms of armed drones at Israeli cities and strategic sites. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boasted that a “more powerful” new wave of missile strikes was unleashed and warned more drone attacks would follow. However, Israel reports no significant damage from these strikes, saying its air defenses have intercepted most incoming threats.

Iran says more than 200 people have been killed in Iran since Israel’s offensive began, while Israel reports 24 dead from Iranian strikes and about 3,000 civilians evacuated from targeted areas.

Israeli leaders remain uncompromising. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing to commit war crimes and fire missiles at Israeli citizens.” Katz even suggested Khamenei could share the fate of Iraq’s former ruler Saddam Hussein – who was toppled by a U.S.-led invasion and executed – if Iran refuses to back down.

At the Group of Seven summit in Canada, French President Emmanuel Macron claimed the U.S. was pushing a ceasefire plan, but Trump angrily refuted that. “Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that,” Trump wrote on social media, dismissing the notion that he was seeking a pause in the fighting.

Many of Washington’s allies have backed Israel’s campaign despite international jitters about a wider war. G7 leaders issued a joint statement blaming Iran for regional instability and declaring that Iran “must never have a nuclear weapon,” while firmly affirming Israel’s right to defend itself. Other Western governments have echoed support for Israel’s right to strike back at Iranian aggression, even as they urge caution to prevent a broader regional conflagration.

The United States is boosting its military presence in the region. The Pentagon is deploying the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East – a show of support for Israel’s defense and a warning to Tehran. U.S. officials say the buildup will bolster Israel’s air defenses and ensure readiness for any contingency, though Washington says it does not seek war with Iran.

Tehran’s leaders remain defiant and insist they will not surrender to U.S. and Israeli demands. Still, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appear determined to continue applying maximum pressure, framing the conflict as a necessary fight to ensure Iran never becomes a nuclear-armed power and to secure Israel’s future in a volatile Middle East.
