Israel’s Kan public broadcast channel 11 yesterday published a report that the army, before October 7, possessed a Hamas document describing in detail a planned attack on army bases and communities around Gaza, anticipating with chilling accuracy the attack that in fact took place.
The report lists the prime targets as being various IDF command posts, bases, and outlook points. It listed target kibbutzim and moshavim in the area, as well as cities like Sderot and Ofakim. Each of these targets was eventually hit on October 7.
The document, described as a brochure, detailed the methods of attack, the weapons to be used, and the methods of deception to be used to lull the IDF and the Israeli political echelon into a false sense of security that no attack was impending.
Despite the astonishing detail and accuracy of the document, reported communicated by a female officer to her army superiors, her concerns about the revealed plan were reportedly dismissed as imaginary.
The report raises deeply disturbing questions about this attack plans and its dismissal, including how high awareness of the plan went in the IDF and in Israeli political circles.
