In what appeared to be a vast and blatant violation of Israeli sovereignty and a nose-thumb to Biden and the massive American naval forces off the coast, a vast fleet of drones and other flying machines was reported as coming en masse from Lebanon and Syria. In response, the Homefront Command ordered civilians in northern Israel, from Haifa to the northern border and across to the Jordan Valley, to lock their doors and dim their lights.
Biden had warned in his White House speech Tuesday night that enemies thinking of testing American resolve should think twice: “Don’t,” the President advised. The next day, they did. Or so, at least, the Israelis thought.
The IDF, in its immediate statement, assured the public that it had not identified any impacts so far and that there are no reports of injuries due to the infiltration alerts. “IDF forces are scanning the area from the ground and from the air,” the military spokesperson detailed. The IDF, reporters, and commentators updated the public continuously with more details on the alleged aerial invasion.
In the end, the IDF had to admit that it was all some kind of mistake, possible human error, or something messed up in the computing or communications systems. Oh well. Israelis breathed a sigh of relief, at least for now. One more day not to be in a regional war.
