The long awaited invasion of Gaza is underway, Israel’s long-deferred and well-prepared response to the Gazan massacre of more than 1400 Israelis and foreign workers in Israel. The IDF has moved thousands of tanks and armored vehicles and tens of thousands of soldiers into the Strip. The forces are meeting relatively light resistance and the IDF moves quickly to isolate the densely populated Gaza city, cutting off transporation axes from the north, south and east, with the Israeli navy operating from the sea.

The IDF is maintaining the “fog of war,” withholding specific locations and operations. But information revealed suggests that Israel is proceeding methodically to create a destructive advance to isolate the terrorist group and to cut off its supply chain.

There are reports that IDF is encountering pockets of resistance where there is fierce fighting, but so far indications are that the overwhelming Israeli forces are slicing through Hamas defenses, destroying structures and tunnels as they go.
