Hezbollah fired anti-tank weapons at civilian vehicles, causing serious and critical injuries to electrical workers and other Israeli citizens. One of the victims, about 80 years old, worked as an agricultural worker in the border community of Dovev, hundreds of meters from the Lebanese border. The anti-tank weapons destroyed several vehicles, each of which burst into flames.
Later in the afternoon there was another anti-tank cross-border attack near Menara on the eastern side of the Upper Galillee.
The cross-border attack represented yet another escalation in the terror group’s daily attacks on northern Israel. The IDF has been responding forcefully to each attack, resulting in the deaths of 70 or more Hezbollah fighters in recent weeks. Israeli civilians have been forced to shelter in place multiple times each day due to the constant fire. Tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated.
At a Saturday night press conference, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that further attacks by Hezbollah leaders would be “the mistake of their lives.” Defense Minister Yoav Galant advised Hezbollah of the price of further escalation. “What we’re doing in Gaza we can also do in Beirut.” was asked what would constitute the crossing of red lines by Hezbollah. He answered: If there is a strike on Beirut, you will know the red lines have been crossed.”
Earlier in the day, addressing senior officers and soldiers in the north. Later in the day, sirens sounded in Kibbutz Hagoshrim, Beit Hillel and also in Kiryat Shmona, the largest city in the upper Galilee region.
the defense minister stated that Hezbollah is no longer making just provocations, but aggression, following several exchanges of fire over the border throughout October and early November.
“Our pilots are sitting in their cockpits, their aircraft facing north,” Gallant said, stressing that the IDF already has mobilized enough forces for its goals in the South against Hamas, and the Israel Air Force has plenty of power to spare. “We haven’t even used 10% of the IAF’s power in Gaza.”
“Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon to a possible war, and is making mistakes,” Galant said at a situational assessment ner the Lebanese border Saturday, adding that the Lebanese citizens would be the first to pay the price for this kind of mistake. “What we can do in Gaza, we can also do in Beirut.”
In his speech, the defense minister stated that Hezbollah is no longer making just provocations, but blatant aggression. “Our pilots are sitting in their cockpits, their aircraft facing north,” Gallant said, stressing that the Israel Air Force has abundant power in reserve. “We haven’t even used 10% of the IAF’s power in Gaza.”
The IDF is responding to the attacks with heavy artillery fire and tanks movements northward have been reported. Civilians have been advised to be in or near protected areas throughout the entire northern border.
