A 16 year old Arab from Jerusalem entered a police station and tried to carry out an attack on an Israeli police station. In the ensuing fight, an American-Israeli immigrant, was killed and two others wounded. The killer was eliminated by security forces.
The Border Police officer killed Sgt Elisheva “Rose” Ida Lubin, 20, who moved to Israel from the US in August 2021, and was drafted to police unit as a lone soldier in March 2022.
The attack took place on Monday morning at the Shalem police station on Salah al-Din Street in East Jerusalem by the Herod’s Gate entrance to the Old City. The injured were promptly attended by the Magen David Adom ambulance service and transported to Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital.
Channel 14 reported that Israeli police are considering the possibility that she was stabbed but also hit by a bullet shot by another police officer intending to hit her assailant.
In the wake of the incident, police detained an additional suspect close to the scene, scrutinizing his potential link to the assailant and the attack. Security forces conducted a thorough search in the vicinity to exclude the presence of more attackers.
