Spicy Fruit Soup

Thanks to Minette Greenman, who will always be loved as a beloved grandmother!

Ingredients:

8 ounces prunes (pitted, cut into small pieces
4 ounces dried appricots (cut into small pieces
½ cup golden raisons
4 cups water
2 cups orange juice
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
½ teaspoon salt
1 3-inch cinnamon stick
6 whole cloves

Directions: In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients except the cinnamon and cloves. Break the cinnamon stick into three pieces. Place the cinnamon and cloves in a tea ball or cheesecloth bag and add to the mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat and cover. Simmar until the fruit is tender, about 30 to 40 minutes. Remove the spices. Serve hot or cold. Makes 12/1/2 cup servings.
