Spicy Baked Beans

Thanks to Minette Greenman, who will always be loved as a beloved grandmother!

Ingredients:

1 lb. (2/1/2 cups) navy, pea or great northern beans
6 cups cold water
1 cup firmly packed Domino Dark Brown Sugar
1 tablespoon salt
½ teaspoon dry mustard
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons minced onion
5 oz. fat salt pork(substitute with beef), partially sliced

Directions: Wash and sort beams. Combine beans and cold water in 6 quart sauce pot. Bring to boil; boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let soak 1 hour. Mix sugar, salt, mustard, cloves, and onion; stir into beans. Place salt pork in 2 quart bean pot; add bean mixture. Cover with lid and bake in a slow oven(300F) about 3 hours. Keep beans moist by adding boiling water ass necessary. Remove lid and allow top of beans to brown, about 30 minutes more.
