Spice N' Applesauce Snack Cake

Thanks to Minette Greenman, who will always be loved as a beloved grandmother!

Ingredients:
1 pkg. Duncan Hines Deluxe II Spice Cake Mix
¼ cup Crisco Oil* or Puritan Oil*
2 eggs
1 can applesauce (approx. 16 oz.)

Instructions:

Preheat oven 350F. Pour oil into a 13x9x2-inch pan. Tilt pan until bottom is covered with oil. Put cake mix, eggs, and applesauce into pan; stir with a fork or spoon until blended (about 2 minutes). Scrape sides and spread batter evenly in pan. Bake at 350F for 30 – 40 minutes; until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cooled cake may be sprinkled with powdered sugar. Use a knife to loosen cake from sides; cut and serve directly from pan. Store leftover cake loosely covered.

ALTERNATE: Instead of applesauce use one of the following: a can (20 – 30 oz.) apple pie filling or a can (20 – 23 oz.) raisin pie filling. Mix, bake and serve as directed above.

*Crisco Oil or Puritan Oil is recommended as some other oils may cause the cake to fail.
