Chocolate Holiday Treats

Thanks to Minette Greenman, who will always be loved as a beloved grandmother!

Ingredients:

½ cup butter
2 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
½ cup milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups quick-cooking oats (uncooked)

Instructions:

Ask an adult to help you melt the butter and chocolate. Add the sugar and milk. Keep heating and stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Stir in pecans, vanilla, and oats. Allow mixture to cool to medium warm. Roll teaspoonfuls into balls and place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chill until firm. Makes about 6 dozen.
