That's it, I'm done. Behind AGAIN because of some madness with children, and no this time it wasn't because I thought Tovah's friend fell out of a balloon in the sky made by his ambitious father, but rather because we decided on a last minute birthday party for Tovah!
I'm doing a party next Saturday after my daughter's gymnastics competition. It was definitely a last minute decision. After a breakdown screaming that because of the competition she'd have no party and no one would sing happy birthday to her, the owner of the gym tells her not to worry; she'll arrange a cake for after the Event. That was NEWS to me! I appreciate the Directors gallant efforts but I know this is TROUBLE. First of all, my daughter wants an invitation for her school friends as well as those friends from the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.
This is not a small party. It's a mini Bat Mitzvah! I'm not ready for this! Of course, as Tovah's Bubbe won't be here I'm sensitive for her. Prior to our legal battles my mother in law would come out for the kids parties and this is the first year she won't be here and not because she's not breathing but because she suing...me!
Having taken this into consideration, the only other person having a birthday party on that date is a sweet Israeli girl who is going to be having it at 11:00 am. It's PERFECT! I take a 4:00 time slot and the war begins.
Let's start here. Israelis are the best people in the world when it comes to a good time but let something go awry and its "OVAH!" I'm a hardcore Jersey girl and we don't back down...basically the same as Israelis, that's why I love them. The mom calls me freaking out that I should NOT have a party on the same day as her daughter as she has already CHANGED it to a later time. Her last minute decision happened because there is ANOTHER party from a different class scheduled for that same day.
I should know this? Now, I'm a "Kid's Party Mind Reader?"
Informed that no one will go to her daughter's party because of Tovah's party, a third mom gets involved (also Israeli) who is the "peacemaker." She informs me that I AM wrong to do the party on that date. BTW, that DATE happens to be my daughter's ACTUAL birthday! I say that only because the ACTUAL birthday date of the child I've offended is in SEPTEMBER! Uh, what was wrong with October? Go for June if you're gonna wait that long!
After finding THAT out I go straight into Jersey mode: "Get offa me! Don't even think of tawkin' to me about this crap!"
I'm done with kid's parties! I say ditch the parties.... go to Disneyland! Trust me, it's cheaper! Whew, thanks for listening and tuning in to VJ where we DEFINITELY tell you like it is.... And like it was!
