Two of the top prizes at the London film festival were awarded to Israeli films. 

The documentary film Defamation which was directed by Israeli director Yoav Shamir has won the Grierson prize. Defamation takes an in-depth look at anti-semitism around the world. 

Ajami, a film that was directed by Israeli Yaron Shani together with Palestinian Seandar Copti and is set in a mixed Jewish and Arab neighborhood in Yafo won the Sutherland award for the best feature film. Ajami has generated substantial 'buzz' from the film community and is rumored to be on the short list of nominees for the 2010 Oscars.
